Marichan

My god, I shouldn't even be writing this. But I feel that someone - somehow - should know what's happened to me...to us. So I'm writing this anyway, and I'm going to hide it someplace where no one will ever find it.

My god, Lynn...DeVon...Gloria's parents...Fawn...even that asshole Miller...they're all dead. The rest of us came so close...I can't stop thinking about it. We barely made it out on time. Everything's gone. My goddamn house...my goddamn Enzo...

And Mari. Dammit Mari, I miss you so much. I just wish I could see you again, before my dad died and I moved away and all this junk that seemed so great and now's just a burning pile of shit.

I thought I was doing it for you. But now you're gone and it's gone and none of it even matters anymore.

That Skye's something else. No, I mean she's something else. I don't know how she knew that they were coming, but when they hit...if not for her, we'd all be dead. I've never seen anyone move like that. It's not human.

They hit us without warning. I don't know how many of them there were, but...they weren't playing. DeVon didn't stand a chance, ex-military or no. He didn't deserve this, not for his measly 15 bucks an hour. And Lynn...I'm so sorry. You never should have been caught up in this. I should have known better. But Mari, you didn't tell me everything.

Miller must have thought he could reason with them, that's why he sold us out. Maybe he sold out Shaun too, I don't know. But they don't want info. They want silence.

Goddamn Miller.

And that means they already know, maybe all of it. What's keeping them from just taking it for themselves?

Skye took one down, somehow...he looked American, but...I don't know. She said they weren't sure who would come for us first, the Americans or the Chinese. But she also wasn't sure how many countries had thrown in by now.

All I know is she's taking us somewhere - somewhere we'll be safe. Somewhere where people like us, people who know, can all be safe.

Somewhere in Antarctica.

Blaze at memorial service kills seven

Saturday, February 4, 2012

In the latest of a recent string of tragic events, a fire in the affluent 1500 block of Meridian Court Friday evening resulted in the deaths of seven people.

Authorities are currently unsure as to the cause of the fire, which erupted in the late evening hours during a memorial service for Farnetti's fiance, Norfolk resident Maricela Munoz, who died recently in a freak electrical fire January 30th, while driving with an acquaintance through the Downtown Tunnel.

Among the deceased are Norfolk residents Michael Farnetti, heir to Fortune 500 company Farnetti and Sons Contracting; Farnetti's media assistant, Lynn Graves; DeVon Hutchinson, who was providing security for the memorial service; and Lt. Gregory Fawn of the Portsmouth Police Department. Additional friends and family were in attendance; their bodies have not yet been found but they are presumed dead.

Officer Fawn recently investigated the suicide of Portsmouth resident Shaun Jacobs, also a friend of Farnetti, and had come to offer his condolences when the fire broke out, which quickly engulfed the Farnetti residence, spreading to two adjacent homes before it was extinguished. The two homes suffered only minimal property damage.

Updates will be posted as they become available.

Tragic accident claims two young lives

Monday, January 30, 2012

A tragic accident claimed the life of two students Sunday, authorities claim.

Gloria Vasquez and Maricela Munoz, both residents of Norfolk, Virginia, were traveling in Vasquez' 1998 Taurus on Interstate 264 through the Downtown Tunnel late Sunday evening when a section of the tunnel apparently exploded, trapping the Vasquez and Munoz in a pile of rubble, say engineers with the Norfolk Transportation Safety Board.

"We believe an electrical fire might have been the initial cause of the accident," states Louis Dawson, a safety engineer with the Board.

So far, no witnesses to the accident have been found, though police were quick to mention that neither alcohol nor a high rate of speed are being considered factors in the accident.

Vasquez and Munoz were both majoring in psychology at nearby Portsmouth Community College. Munoz was engaged to be married to her high school sweetheart, Michael Farnetti, at the end of the month.

"I'm determined to get to the bottom of this no matter how long it takes," said Farnetti, of Farnetti and Sons Contracting, which earlier this year made headlines due to the sudden death of company founder John Robert Farnetti, Michael's father, which made the younger Farnetti the majority stockholder in the Fortune 500 architectural firm.

Portsmouth Community College students had just recently mourned the death of another of its own, Portsmouth resident Shaun Jacobs.

"At times like these, it makes you thankful for what you have," said a student who wished not to be named.

The Downtown Tunnel remains closed for an indefinite period of time, pending investigation and repair.

Portsmouth Man found Dead in Apparent Suicide; Police Suspect Foul Play

Portsmouth, Virginia native Shaun Jacobs was found dead in his apartment Friday in what was an apparent suicide by a gunshot to the head.
Jacobs’ body was found in the basement of the East End apartment the 26 year old man shared with his mother, who was at work the night of the suicide, by a friend who had come to visit to ask him about a video game, police say.
“I thought I’d come by, and, y’know, ask him what server he was going to play on after the expansion,” said Christian Miller, Jacobs’ friend and classmate in the local community college. “I opened up the screen door and went into the basement, and that’s when I saw him. I thought he was just asleep at the computer, but when I got closer, I knew. That’s when I saw he was dead.”
Jacobs, who was recently unemployed following a work injury, was an avid player of the online video game World of Warcraft, his mother says. The game was running on the screen and his character was logged in when Miller found him dead.
“I don’t think it had anything to do with the game,” said Miller. “He wasn’t as serious as some people get about those kinds of things. I mean, he didn’t get out much, sure, but it was more like he was…busy all the time, or something. He hadn’t even played much recently because his internet was down for a while.”
According to Verizon, the Jacobs’ internet service had been temporarily disconnected after a large amount of bandwidth use had been detected on Jacobs’ IP address.
However, police have reason to believe that foul play might have had a part in Jacobs’ death.
“At this time, we are unable to disclose any official information about the investigation,” said Portsmouth Police Lieutenant Gregory Fawn. “However, we have reason to believe Mr. Jacobs’ death was not a suicide.”
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday in what is to be a private family service.
